Vice-Captain Stu does it again!

Vice-Captain Stuart Smith was in sparkling form, again, this time playing in blustery conditions at Market Drayton, on Wednesday 01 November.

Stu posted a gross score of 33 points to win the gross prize but also topped the four-ball better-ball leaderboard scoring 40 points with Peter Williams. But that is not the end of the story as Paul Tenneson and John Hampson also posted 40 points but they had to settle for the runners up spot on a back six count back.

Super Stu at Oswestry!

Vice-Captain Stuart Smith is no stranger to the leader board in C&BGA events as is Frank Gregory.

Reunited as a pairing at Oswestry on 23 August, Stu posted a super gross score of 34 points to win the gross event and in the four-ball competition together they posted 46 points to top the leaderboard on a count back. Very well done to both of you.

Magnificent May for HPGC!

The HPGC squad followed up their success at Hawarden and the start of the month with a best ever performance at Market Drayton on 31st May and it was John Gallagher, pictured in the centre, who led the way.

John found himself in a three-ball after an 11th hour withdrawal and thanks to his excellent play not only did he and Howard Birch top the leaderboard with 45 points but also he claimed second place with Percy Mellor on 43 points. Meanwhile Robin Mackness and Frank Gregory posted 41 points for 6th place. Very well done all!

2023 C&BGA Spring Season Update

Last year it took 14 outings in the Spring Season for one of our pairs to reach the top of the leader board - this year it has taken 12!

Playing at Hawarden Golf Club on 03 May Vice-Captain Stuart Smith and Dave Ralphs topped the leaderboard with 42 points to beat 160 other players. But as Stuart was playing in a three-ball he also claimed 4th place with Frank Gregory on 41 points while Phil Hollins and John Gallagher received an honourable mention in 7th place with 39 points.

Ironically, our first success last year was at Eaton with then Vice-Captain Stephen Saunders winning the day with, guess who, Frank Gregory!!

Dave's Maiden Ace!!

HPGC members playing in this season’s campaign have so far failed to challenge the top of the leaderboard but, at Wrexham on 29 March, Dave Robson stole the headlines with his first ever hole in one.

On the 135 yard 4th hole, with the wind against, Dave used a 6 iron; the ball bounced on the green 5 ft from the pin and rolled into the hole - very well done Dave!
